Support for Microsoft XP is Ending

Microsoft’s support and technical assistance for Windows XP officially ends April 8, 2014. This means that automatic updates and patches that are currently provided to protect your Windows XP PC will no longer be available. Your XP computer will still work but the lack of patches and fixes leave your system vulnerable to security risks and system issues.

See the official Microsoft announcement here.

Windows XP had a great run for thirteen years and was a very popular operating system. It is still the second most used operating system on all computers today, only behind Windows 7. If you are currently using Windows XP, Windows 7 or Windows 8 are natural upgrade options.

Hawaii Tech Support recommends that you start planning for XP upgrades ahead of the April 8 deadline. Hardware, software and data migrations should be considered when upgrading from XP. There are many options including Shared computing solutions which benefit organizations that have a large amount of systems to replace.
