August Client Spotlight

The Client: Associated Steel Workers Ltd.

The Challenge: Modernizing ASW’s network consisting of legacy workstation and server equipment during the busiest time in the company’s last 40 years.

Legacy Systems: Windows Server 2003 file and Exchange (email), tape cartridge backup, Windows XP workstations

Software: AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Adobe, Industry specific accounting and estimating software, Rebar tagging.

Our Approach: Working closely with ASW’s IT director, HTS architected a new hybrid network with a new server running accounting and estimating databases and fast workstations for ASW’s designers.  HTS migrated email services to the cloud using Office365 and ASW’s new server is protected with automated offsite cloud based backup.  HTS provided training to introduce users to the new systems and to answer questions about the conversion process which helped staff with the transition.  The implementation team pre-staged hardware and software and strategically scheduled system replacements to minimize downtime.

The Results: Seamless Transition to new technology with no downtime and increased security

“I can honestly say that I have never experienced such a smooth transition with zero down time for our employees since we were first introduced to computers in the late 80’s. We are currently at the busiest we have been in about 40 years and the end of life and support from Microsoft for Windows Server 2003 and XP couldn’t have come at a worse time for us. You brought us current on technology, changed our data backup process, made us more efficient in data transfer and more secure on how we go about our daily business. I feel I can speak for the management and employees of Associated Steel Workers Ltd. That now we can all breathe a sigh of relief knowing that we didn’t even skip a beat from this transition.”

Curtis Togami, IT Director – Associated Steel Workers Ltd.
